Poised to restore or build natural-looking bounce and glow – while perfectly balancing the proportions of any profile – Dermal Fillers deliver speedy hydration as well as building shape, lift and smoothness.
“The art of successful fillers lies in a well-trained eye and an expert consultation. We start with a sensitive facial assessment to work out how to create balance and harmony at an individual level.”
A rounded forehead is important for a youthful appearance, and also influences the position of the eyebrows.
This area loses the most volume in the face with age, therefore it is important to restore it in order to give balance and lift.
Especially useful in men, as it can give a more masculine appearance to the face. In women, it can lift the tail of the brow.
Volume loss in this area can contribute to glabella line.
Hollowing in this region can give an aged and gaunt appearance. Small amounts of dermal filler can be used to relieve this.
An extension of temple treatment, this helps to elevate the lateral canthus of the eye and create a more youthful appearance.
Volume loss here is an essential area to restore prior to treating the under eye or any full face rejuvenation, as if will provide lift and support.
This area is often treated to give the appearance of higher or more full cheekbones.
The lateral part of the under eye is important to give a more horizontal appearance to the eye if the eye is looking sad.
Refers to a specific anatomical region, being the inner third of the under eye.
Useful for treatment of a dip or hump in the nose when trying to create a straighter profile.
Important for maxillary projection, the base of the nose treatment is important for the treatment of nasolabial folds.
Used when trying to elevate the tip of the nose to create a more pleasing profile.
Used to give more prominence to the jaw or to relieve jowls.
The hollowing here is a useful place to restore using dermal filler, as it will help to give lift to the nasolabial region.
This is a classic area to treat and can be treated directly.
At TLC, we prefer a more natural lip augmentation. This can be anything from pure hydration through to a fuller look.
Essential when creating a more pleasing profile.
This area becomes more shadowed with age, and restoring it will improve the vertical height of the lower facial third.
Enhancement of the jawline is essential when treating the jowls, and is also commonly done in men to give a more masculine appearance.
Can sometimes lose volume with age and give a gaunt appearance, restoration of this gives more youth back to the face.
“Primed to deliver fast-fire rejuvenation, dermal fillers can help to diminish wrinkles, soften creasing, build contours that were previously unattainable and/or restore a fullness to the skin.”
Injectable Dermal Fillers have two principal roles: adding new shape or reviving glorious facial form. Primed to deliver fast-fire rejuvenation, they can help to diminish wrinkles, soften creasing, build contours that were previously unattainable, and/or restore a fullness to the skin that may have been naturally lost through ageing.
At TLC, we finesse individual features, while taking a holistic view of every profile – assessing change (specifically loss of volume) across the nose, forehead, cheeks, lips, chin, jawline, and neck in concert, to craft an individualised plan.
We do this via three key kinds of filler, often in combination:
Dermal Fillers are most well-known for use on the face (they’re ideal for plumping thin lips, enhancing shallow contours, softening crow’s feet and wrinkles, and improving the appearance of recessed scars), but can also work well on the hands, neck, décolletage, bum, and even outer labia.
Those over the age of 18. Dermal Fillers are especially good at combatting early signs of ageing and can be invaluable allies in softening scarring or facial asymmetry, as well as supporting people who are transitioning genders who want to redefine traditionally masculine or feminine profiles.
Hyaluronic acid fillers generally last for six to 24 months, dependent on the amount and type of filler in the treated area, and the position in the face.
Calcium hydroxyapatite (non-hyaluronic) acid fillers, such as Radiesse®, usually last for up to 18 months.
The PLLA fillers, such as Sculptra® and Lanluma®, typically last up to 24 months, but take longer to show full results, usually up to six weeks.
For all Dermal Fillers, more than one session may be required to achieve the desired results.
Please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are variable dependent on the individual patient and which treatment or combination of treatments have been selected. The expert TLC team will advise you accordingly.
Dermal Fillers are a great standalone treatment but are also able to complement numerous other rejuvenation-focused treatments. For another set of treatments where patients can benefit from the moisture-magnetising properties of hyaluronic acid, see Injectable Moisturisers.
Soft tissue dermal fillers are unlikely to achieve results that look as pronounced as a facelift, but a greater degree of subtlety, and their role in helping to create balance, often underscores their appeal.
Radiesse® – based fillers cannot be dissolved earlier than their estimated 18-months duration, as their hyaluronic acid counterparts can. They also can’t be used around the eye, mouth, forehead, or nose.
The PLLA fillers, such as Sculptra® and Lanluma®, cannot be used around the eye or mouth, and take longer to show full results than other filler types, sometimes up to 6 weeks. Like Radiesse®, these fillers also cannot be synthetically dissolved before they naturally dissipate. They also require patients to assist in their initial upkeep, by massaging their own skin 5 times a day for 5 minutes per day, for 5 days.
Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.
No, patients having Dermal Fillers feel very little discomfort thanks to our use of extra fine needles, topical and/or sometimes local anaesthetic. The way the skin tissue is handled has a bearing on how painful a procedure is and the extent of any swelling, all of which our highly experienced team is well-versed in.
You’ll have a good idea how the finished treatment will look immediately after the procedure, but for best results wait for three to four weeks.
Adverse effects include a residual bulge or swelling that lasts longer than anticipated, asymmetry, allergic reaction, infection as well blood vessel and retinal artery occlusions (blockages in the arteries or veins).
Yes. Hyaluronic acid is produced by a bacterium and is non-animal based.
If hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers need to be removed for any reason it is possible to do this with an enzyme hyaluronidase, which swiftly breaks down the initial compound. For more on this also look to the Corrective Procedures section in the treatments list.
Yes. Modern techniques for non-surgical work, which include an expert analysis of where an individual has lost volume of bone or fat through the ageing process have led to the use of dermal fillers to support the creation of a beautifully balanced natural look. At TLC, in part thanks to our expertise in facial anatomy, we’re especially proficient at working with light and shadow to harmonise the features.
