Mesotherapy for Hair

Nourishing nutrient hits unleash luxuriant hair

Thanks to the magic of mesotherapy – a technique pioneered in the 1950s, whereby micro-injections of rejuvenation-rich vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, hyaluronic and amino acids (amongst other active ingredients) are dispensed directly into the skin – an ultra-nourished scalp and stimulated follicles will unleash more luxuriant hair.

Dr Sarah Tonks says...

“Mesotherapy has multiple uses, but it’s particularly good for hair optimisation in conditions where supplements or ‘topical preparations’ like a caffeine or vitamin shampoo won’t do enough. Because the injections take the nutrients directly to the correct anatomical spot on the scalp, they’ll really be able to do their best work.”

What is it and how does it work?

Mesotherapy (meaning middle therapy, because it’s applied to the mesoderm or central level of skin) is a non-surgical technique where microinjections of active pharmaceutical or homeopathic preparations are dispensed anywhere on the face or body (in this case the scalp) to enriching effect.

We deploy hyper-nourishing preparations that help protect hair cells from the damage caused by free radicals (unstable molecules that can cause damage to other cells), which can include the antioxidant glutathione as well as vitamin B and amino acids and, following a consultation with a doctor or prescribing nurse to confirm suitability, Dutasteride – a drug that helps to prevent, slow, and even reverse hair loss in men. For a boost you can continue at home, Calecim® the exosome rich system for hair loss is a great option.

We perform the injections by hand using an ultra-fine needle which stimulates the hair follicles to encourage hair growth that is stronger and healthier, as well as halting hair loss.

Mesotherapy products can also be applied topically (directly onto the skin) following scalp microneedling, a process whereby dozens of tiny pricks are made in the surface of the skin to stimulate the body’s own natural healing processes; the small perforations not only boost healing but allow the products we use to infuse gently into the skin. In many situations, we typically use the ultra-precise and FDA-approved SkinPen® Precision device.

Which body parts is it designed for?

Mesotherapy is great for the hair, but also has a broad range of applications, making it relevant for almost anywhere on the body in need of a boost or back-up.

Who is it primarily good for?

Mesotherapy’s broad range of uses makes it applicable to anyone, with particularly noticeable benefits for those seeking to banish dark circles and/or fine lines under their eyes.

How long will it last for and what’s the downtime?

A total of six sessions at four-week intervals is recommended for the best results, with regular follow-ups as suggested by the nurse or doctor prescribing the treatment.

Downtime is negligible for most mesotherapy treatments, but please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are dependent on the individual patient.

What other treatments does it work well with?

What else should I know?

The specific products used will vary for each patient, but will generally include ingredients such as amino acids specifically suitable for boosting hair growth, or polynucleotides such as Nucleofill Hair.

Does it hurt?

Typically, it can be uncomfortable. However, we sometimes use the cutting-edge and award-winning cryotherapy device TargetCool (a device that calms the needled skin and increases the penetration of any product placed onto it) to make the treatment more comfortable for anyone with especially sensitive skin.

When does it start to work?

We advise at least three treatment sessions in order to see substantial results, depending on the severity of the hair loss/condition.

What can go wrong?

Nothing! Mesotherapy for Hair is an entirely safe treatment.
