A major movement in haute beauty, Exosomes are extracted from stem cells which, when applied to the body in conjunction with other treatments, can turbocharge skin regeneration and hair growth. Superb for inflammation, immunity and chronically stressed skin (among many other triumphs), they’re the new byword in achieving next-level radiance.
“A real challenger to PRP, exosomes therapy is amazing for people who have already embraced regenerative treatments. It’s rare to see something so truly innovative in medi-aesthetics – and this is it.”
Exosomes are small vesicles (sacks) generated by human, animal or plant cells (at TLC, ours are derived from roses) containing a variety of growth factors, including proteins, peptides, lipids and amino acids, which boost collagen levels, encouraging skin regeneration and hair growth.
Often referred to as ‘the signalling messengers from stem cells’, and therefore only a tiny fraction of the size of a cell itself, they’re able to move through the body with ease, playing a pivotal role in reducing inflammation, supporting immunity and regenerating the body from within.
Our exosomes are premade to a medical-grade standard in Korea, and are administered in conjunction with other microneedling-based therapies treatments, such as SkinPen Microneedling® , radiofrequency microneedling with INTRAcel and light/laser therapies (see Sciton JOULE® Light & Laser Technologies) that allow them to penetrate the body and their potency to take full effect.
For the skin treatment, each vial contains five billion exosomes (twice that of the equivalent product in the USA), including six peptides, 10 growth factors, NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), 19 amino acids and glutathione. Early studies show that exosomes can increase the body’s production of collagen by 600%.
For hair therapy, each vial contains 10 billion exosomes, including B vitamin Biotin, copper tripeptides, 10 growth factors and 30 nutrients.
Exosomes are used on either the skin (most commonly the neck, chest and hands) or the hair, making them ideal for overall skin tightening, improving fine lines and wrinkles (particularly areas that have traditionally been difficult to treat, such as around the eye or upper lip), assisting in the correction of hyper-pigmentation (melasma) and supercharging chronically fatigued skin.
Thanks to their hyper-healing powers, they’re also great for regulating inflammation, which itself supports a reduction of pigmentation or dark under-eye circles, with anecdotal reports suggesting exosomes can also combat eczema and rosacea. If that wasn’t enough, they also improve the skin’s natural biome, making it look considerably more radiant.
Exosomes are a brilliant beauty booster for all, but are particularly good for people starting to show the signs of ageing. They can also be superb for supporting the healing process when used immediately following surgery.
Any downtime with exosomes directly correlates to the accompanying procedure, but their anti-inflammatory properties almost always mean a reduction in any redness would usually be experienced.
Results from exosome therapy (advised as a course of five sessions over one to three months) can last for as long as six to eight months.
Please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are dependent on the individual patient.
As mentioned above, exosomes aren’t a standalone treatment. They will always need to be administered as part of another treatment involving either laser/light technologies or SkinPen Microneedling® – see Sciton JOULE® Light & Laser Technologies and INTRAcel.
Exosomes are considered an extremely safe aesthetic treatment, but some patients will prefer PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Therapy, where the regenerative power comes directly from a formulation made via their own body.
Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.
No. The most discomfort you can expect to experience is some soreness from the microneedling, INTRAcel or laser, depending on how your particular treatment is performed.
Nothing! Exosomes are an entirely safe treatment.
You can expect to see some results in as little as one week, but we advise a course of sessions to see the best results (ideally five sessions over a period of 1-3 months).
