Fine, sterile needles create controlled micro-channels that trigger your skin’s natural repair response, stimulating fresh collagen and elastin for visible improvement in fine lines, scarring and texture over time. Performed by Carly Argent, with over 23 years of professional experience, this is one of the most clinically proven treatments in modern skincare — and every session can be tailored and elevated with a range of advanced add-ons.
“Microneedling remains one of the most reliable ways to genuinely change the skin — and with the right add-ons, I can tailor it precisely to whatever your skin needs to recover faster and look its very best.”
Microneedling uses a precision device fitted with fine, sterile needles to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. This deliberately triggers the skin’s own natural healing response, stimulating fresh collagen and elastin production from within — the two proteins responsible for firm, plump, youthful-looking skin.
Carly adjusts the needle depth and technique according to your skin’s specific concerns, working methodically across the face (and neck and décolletage, if required) to ensure even, thorough coverage. A nourishing serum is worked into the skin during treatment, taking full advantage of the open micro-channels to deliver active ingredients deeper than topical application alone ever could.
Because the treatment works with your skin’s own regenerative response rather than against it, results continue to build for several weeks after each session, as collagen remodelling takes place beneath the surface. This is why microneedling is typically recommended as a course rather than a single treatment — each session compounds on the last for visible, lasting change.
• Fine lines and early signs of ageing
• Acne scarring and post-acne marks
• Enlarged pores
• Uneven texture and rough patches
• Mild pigmentation and uneven skin tone
• Loss of firmness and elasticity
• Stretch marks (when treated on the body)
Microneedling is suitable for most skin types and concerns, and is particularly well-suited to anyone wanting clinically meaningful improvements in texture, scarring or early signs of ageing without the heat or downtime associated with more aggressive resurfacing treatments. It is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, who have active acne breakouts, or who have a history of keloid scarring. Carly will talk you through suitability at your consultation.
Expect skin to appear flushed, similar to mild sunburn, for 24 to 48 hours following treatment, with some light sensitivity or tightness as it settles. Make-up can typically be reapplied the following day, and you’ll be sent home with full aftercare advice, including the importance of SPF while the skin renews itself.
For best results, Carly recommends an initial course of three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments every few months to sustain your results as part of an ongoing skincare routine.
Carly offers a range of advanced add-ons to elevate your microneedling session, each chosen to target a specific concern or accelerate your results. These can be discussed and added at the time of booking or during your consultation.
Add LED Light Therapy (included at 90 minutes): Using our hospital-grade Korean LED device, specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light are delivered directly to the freshly needled skin. Red light works to calm inflammation and accelerate healing, while also stimulating fibroblast activity to further boost the collagen production already triggered by the microneedling itself. It is entirely non-invasive, pain-free, and works in perfect synergy with the micro-channels created during treatment, helping results to develop more quickly and comfortably.
Add Lyma Laser (included at 90 minutes): As an alternative to LED, Carly may select Lyma laser to follow your microneedling. Lyma’s clinically proven photobiomodulation technology uses a precise 808nm wavelength of laser light to penetrate deep into the skin, calming inflammation at a cellular level and accelerating the skin’s natural repair process. Following microneedling, this helps to reduce redness and discomfort, speed up recovery time, and further enhance collagen remodelling — all with zero additional downtime.
TargetCool Pigmentation Cocktail (+£100): For clients dealing with pigmentation or uneven tone, Carly can infuse a targeted glutathione or tranexamic acid cocktail using the TargetCool device. TargetCool uses cold-assisted infusion technology to drive these actives deep into the skin via the micro-channels already created by the needling, allowing them to work at a deeper level than topical application alone.
What do glutathione and tranexamic acid do? Glutathione is a powerful naturally-occurring antioxidant known for its brightening and skin-clarifying properties, helping to even out tone and combat dullness caused by oxidative stress. Tranexamic acid is a clinically studied ingredient widely used to target stubborn pigmentation, including melasma and sun-induced dark spots, by interrupting the pathway that triggers excess melanin production. Together, infused at depth via TargetCool, they offer a targeted, deeper approach to tackling uneven skin tone than either ingredient could achieve when simply applied to the surface.
Botanical Exosome Therapy (+£450): Our most premium upgrade, Botanical Exosome Therapy takes full advantage of your skin’s open micro-channels to deliver concentrated, plant-derived vesicles immediately following needling, while the skin is most receptive to absorption.
What are exosomes and how do they work? Exosomes are microscopic, nutrient-rich vesicles that act as messengers between cells, carrying growth factors, antioxidants and signalling molecules that instruct skin cells to repair and regenerate more efficiently. Our botanical, plant-derived exosomes are used specifically to avoid any concerns associated with human or animal-derived alternatives, while still delivering a highly concentrated, biologically active treatment. Infused directly into the deeper layers of the skin via the micro-channels created during microneedling, they flood the skin with concentrated growth factors and antioxidants to drastically accelerate cellular repair, rapidly calm post-treatment redness, and significantly boost collagen production — taking your results considerably further than microneedling alone.
MICRONEEDLING IS GREAT FOR ANYONE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL-GRADE SKIN CONDITION REFRESHER, BUT ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE LOOKING TO SUBDUE THE SIGNS OF AGEING OR COMBAT TEXTURAL CHANGES, INCLUDING THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH ACNE SCARRING.
Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.
The level of discomfort depends on the depth of needles used for your treatment: for surface level procedures, you can expect to experience only a small pricking sensation; for longer-length needles, we’ll offer you a numbing cream to offset any pain.
You’ll see some improvement immediately, but expect to wait six weeks for the full results to be visible.
It’s entirely normal to experience some redness post-treatment and, with the deeper microneedling, some scabbing and flaky skin.
