SkinPen® Precision Microneedling System

Precision needling for an all-round skin super-refresher

Fast, ultra-precise and only minimally invasive, the FDA-approved SkinPen® Precision Microneedling System is the jewel of elementary modern microneedling. Whether used on its own to stimulate collagen and revive condition and texture, or as a primer to other treatments like Mesotherapy or Exosomes, it can smooth wrinkles, fine lines and acne scarring while improving overall skin health at the same time.

Dr Sarah Tonks says...

“A gem of a device when handled with skill, the SkinPen® Precision is a brilliant treatment to boost the look, feel and general health of your skin at speed and with very little downtime. It’s FDA-approval is testament to it being the best device of its kind currently on the market.”

What is it and how does it work?

A basic form of microneedling, SkinPen® Precision is the world’s first FDA-approved, pen-like handheld device that that has very short, very fine needles (usually 0.5-3mm) embedded into the tip that administer thousands of tiny punctures in the skin. These non-scarring micro injuries activate the body’s natural tissue healing responses, including prompting collagen production – helping to revitalise the skin and present a fresher, plumper and more radiant appearance.

Aside this brilliant primary benefit, this type of microneedling also sets the scene for follow-up treatments: the tiny ruptures are primed for delivering other serums or preparations of active ingredients directly into the skin (consider Mesotherapy’s bespoke cocktail of vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, amino and hyaluronic acids), rendering them far more effective than if applied to the skin’s surface.

The unique design of the SkinPen® Precision means its safety features are unparalleled; a custom-designed BioSheath and single use, sealed sterile cartridges rule out any possibility of contamination.

Which body parts is it designed for?

While most commonly used to improve facial complexion and texture, SkinPen® Precision’s capacity to treat fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, stretch marks and other skin imperfections means it can also work wonders on the neck, décolletage, chest, back, hands, scalp and even feet.

Who is it primarily good for?

This treatment is suitable for anyone over the age of 18, but can only be performed following a full consultation with a TLC therapist to assess suitability.

How long will it last for and what’s the downtime?

Depending on the patient, the original condition of their skin and their overall health, the SkinPen® Precision can deliver results that last for as long as six months.

Downtime is negligible; because it’s less intensive than deeper dive microneedling treatments such as INTRAcel, patients can generally return to their usual routines almost immediately (and to all normal activities within 24 hours).

Please note that all treatment responses and recovery times are dependent on the individual patient.

What other treatments does it work well with?

What else should I know?

Because of the accelerated turnover of skin cells, you may experience peeling and flaking three to five days after the treatment, but this will generally be short-lived. Within two to four weeks, the benefits of microneedling will be apparent.

To see the very best results, we recommend a series of three to four (30-minute) sessions, at intervals of a month to six weeks, to ensure the skin has ample time to heal.

FAQS

Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.

Does it hurt?

The level of discomfort depends on the depth of needles used for your treatment: for surface level procedures, you can expect to experience only a small pricking sensation; for longer-length needles, we’ll offer you a numbing cream to offset any pain.

When does it start to work?

You’ll see some improvement immediately, but expect to wait six weeks for the full results to be visible.

What can go wrong?

It’s entirely normal to experience some redness post-treatment and, with the deeper microneedling, some scabbing and flaky skin.
