Advanced Muscle-Relaxing Injectables
A revived resting face: relax, soften and smooth fine lines
“
Dr Sarah Tonks says...
“As we get older, our facial muscles tend to become more tense, causing us to look more strained. Advanced muscle-relaxing injectables can be a superb counter to this.”
Forehead
Horizontal forehead lines. This area should only be treated in conjunction with the frown lines.
Frown lines
Otherwise known as the 11 lines between the eyebrows.
Crow’s feet
The horizontal lines emanating from the lateral portion of the eye to the nose which crinkle on smiling.
Bunny line
The diagonal lines from the corner of the eye to the nose.
Under-eye wrinkles
The small fine lines under the eye can sometimes be softened (but not eliminated).
Dipping of the nasal tip
Some people find the nasal tip droops when they are smiling. Botox injections can help to minimise this.
Gummy smile
When smiling, if there is too much show of the gum, Botox can be used to drop the smile so the gum is not as visible.
Lip flip
A compelling alternative to dermal fillers in the lip, or for those with a gummy smile.
Orange peel chin
When speaking, sometimes the chin muscle is overactive and causes dimpling here.
Masseter
This area can be injected either to relieve pain from tooth grinding or to slim the face.
Nefertiti
This treatment is performed to lift the jawline after removing the downwards influence of the platysmal muscle in this specific region.
Platysma
The vertical bands from the lower part of the jaw to the lower part of the neck.
Trapezius
The shoulder muscle which can be responsible for pain when in tension. This area can also be treated to give a more elegant appearance to the neck.
Migraine
Migraine protocol can help with recurrent headaches when there are more than 15 per month.
Downturned mouth corners
Prevents downwards pulling that can give the mouth a sad appearance.
What is it and how does it work?
Advanced Muscle-Relaxing Injectables relax often-tense facial muscles, compelling fine lines and wrinkles to fall away, allowing the face to open up and patients to appear more confident, contented, and better-rested. Instead of focusing on adding tautness, their power is anchored in creating a wonderfully refreshed look (including some natural motion).
Notably, Advanced Muscle-Relaxing Injectables aren’t solely for eliminating frown lines and wrinkles, they can also be used to slim the lower face, streamline the jawline, and depreciate prominent platysmal bands (parallel vertical neck muscles).
Additionally, they’re an invaluable ally in treating chronic stress-related conditions, such as teeth grinding and jaw clenching, which can lead to dental damage, migraines, or other longer-term health conditions.
Which body parts is it designed for?
For the Face:
Most commonly, Advanced Muscle-Relaxing Injectables are used on the forehead and around the eyes to deplete frown and horizontal forehead lines, crow’s feet, and also to lift the brows (a tendency to frown can cause the brows to be dragged inwards and down, which these muscle-loosening injectables can counteract).
This treatment can soften over-pronounced salivary glands, slim a bulky neck, or help streamline the jawline. They can also de-emphasise the aforementioned platysmal bands, which can create the appearance of saggy skin and vertical neck creases.
For the Armpits (issues with sweating):
Advanced Muscle-Relaxing Injectables also offer an effective treatment for combatting sweaty armpits (axillary hyperhidrosis). Here, the injectable is administered into the skin to safely block a chemical that activates over-production in the sweat glands. It also works in the palms and hair for excess sweating.
As mentioned above, there’s also a powerful potential stress-relieving aspect to this treatment: for people predisposed to grinding their teeth when anxious or asleep, muscle-relaxing injectables can be used to safely limit the movement of the jaw muscle responsible for grating and clenching.
Our unparalleled knowledge of dental anatomy (the TLC team boasts three medical doctors with dentistry degrees and experienced nurses) is especially pertinent to providing this type of top-tier stress-relief.
It can even be used on the legs to slim bulky calves.
Who is it primarily good for?
How long will it last for and what’s the downtime?
Advanced muscle-relaxing injectables are renowned for their usual lack of any downtime and typically last three to four months (six for those focused on the sweat glands).
What other treatments does it work well with?
Other treatments that also provide a satisfying degree of facial rejuvenation, including helping you to look more well-rested and confident, include Dermal Fillers and Injectable Moisturisers.
What else should I know?
These treatments, due to the involvement of prescription-only medicines, can only be performed in tandem with full guidance from a TLC doctor or nurse prescriber.
Advanced muscle-relaxing injectables relax often-tense facial muscles, allowing the face to open up, so patients appear more confident, contented and well rested.
FAQS
Here are a few final things that you might like to know before taking things forward. If you have any other questions we haven’t thought of yet, no problem! Please email us at hello@thelovelyclinic.co.uk and one of the team will get back to you as quickly as they possibly can.
Only minimally discomfiting, you should expect a short-lived pricking sensation during each injection.
The effect usually emerges from three to five days, reaching its full impact between two and three weeks, so if you have a special event to attend it’s important to plan accordingly. We advise scheduling a treatment one month prior to a big occasion so there’s ample time to make any adjustments.
There is no antidote to wrinkle relaxation, but the effects do reverse over time as the treatment wears off.
Not looking natural or no longer resembling oneself is a significant concern for lots of people. However, thanks to our focus on creating a harmonious set of facial features, most of our patients report that others seem to sense something positive has changed, without being able to put their finger on why. We’re proud to have three medical doctors with dentistry degrees on the team at TLC and highly experienced nurses, whose in-depth understanding of dental and facial anatomy has underscored our capacity to unlock especially natural-looking results.
Problems associated with Advanced Muscle Relaxing Injectables include bruising and temporarily droopy eyelids or eyebrows. However, we minimise these risks by initially taking things slowly and using a conservative volume of the injectable, building gradually to determine a patient’s preferred look.
Headaches are fairly common following an initial treatment with some (far fewer) patients also experiencing tiredness, neck weakness, double vision, and nausea.
