ULTRAcel Q+ Handpiece Settings
Did you ever try to burn a leaf using sunlight and a magnifying glass as a child? The glass would bend the rays of light so that they all concentrated on one focal point, generating a lot of heat. The magnifying glass didn’t feel hot, but heat was generated below. The same idea applies to ULTRAcel Q+.
Using HIFU, thermal energy is created at a target depth without damaging the skin’s surface or other tissues. A total of 15 different cartridges can be inserted into the ULTRAcel Q+ handpiece, 8 delivering heat in the form of dots and 7 generating a line. Depths of 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 11mm and 13mm can be reached depending on the handpiece setting.
Skin Tightening
Handpiece cartridges using dot technology and set to 1.5mm or 2mm are used to treat fine lines. HIFU creates heat in the superficial dermis, triggering the body’s natural healing response. New, healthy collagen strands are formed, giving the skin greater structural support. The 2mm depth handpiece has a width of just 8.6mm making it ideal for treating the narrow, delicate eye area.
For more established wrinkles and sagging skin, the 3mm dot cartridge induces greater tightening via coagulation of collagen. When this occurs, the body’s response to heat damage is more intense and visibly lifts the skin. Deep-set wrinkles are reduced with the 4.5mm dot cartridge which targets the superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) – the layer of skin involved in traditional facelift surgery. HIFU causes significant SMAS contraction, reducing the appearance of static wrinkles.
Skin Brightening
Linear cartridges deliver bulk heating for a wider treatment area. The Linear 2.0 cartridge distributes thermal energy throughout the dermis, generating new collagen cells. Water binds tightly to collagen chains, improving hydration levels and brightening lacklustre complexions. This ULTRAcel Q+ treatment results in an overall improvement in skin texture, firmness and elasticity, in addition to fine line reduction.
Body Sculpting
Linear cartridges reaching fatty tissue at depths of 4.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 11mm and 13mm are selected based on the area being treated. A single linear shot heats an area over 4 times larger than dot cartridges targeting the same depth, speeding up treatment times and offering a practical way to treat bigger areas. When HIFU reaches the subcutaneous fat layer, widespread heat damage disrupts fat cell membranes. Damaged fat cells are removed naturally by the body’s lymphatic system, resulting in targeted volume loss over time. Popular treatment areas include double chins, bra fat, arms, knees, hips and thighs.
