When discussing injectables, Dermal Fillers and Muscle-Relaxing Injections are likely to be the first treatments that spring to mind. Globally adored for their instant, non-surgical results, and widely accessible across various settings, including aesthetics clinics, dental surgeries and dermatology practices, it’s easy to understand their popularity. But as technology advances in search of next-generation products, a broader portfolio of injectables is emerging.
Breakthroughs such as Profhilo ®, HArmonyCA ™ and BELOTERO ® Revive have won awards for their skin-nurturing capabilities, gaining a loyal patient following across the UK. Yet these same products have not been launched in the US, much to the disappointment of our neighbours across the pond.
The Next Generation Of Injectables
Profhilo ®
First introduced to the injectables market in 2013, Profhilo ® contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid (HA) on the market. This naturally occurring substance attracts water and holds onto it, offering a burst of hydration beneath the surface of your skin, creating a soft, glowing complexion. A series of 10 Profhilo ® injections are spaced out across your facial zones, enabling the HA gel to slowly diffuse throughout your skin for 4 weeks post-treatment. In addition to its unrivalled moisturising properties, Profhilo ® stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This means that the treatment’s anti-ageing results far exceed the time it takes for the injectable to be broken down by the body. Improvements in skin quality achieved with Profhilo ® complement the more dramatic anti-ageing results of Muscle-Relaxing Injections, making them a popular combination treatment.
HArmonyCA™
Pioneered by Allergan, the makers of Juvéderm Fillers, HArmonyCA ™ is the company’s first dual-effect hybrid injectable. Launched in Europe in September 2022, the product contains both hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHa), with the addition of local anaesthetic lidocaine to minimise discomfort. Cross-linked HA is mouldable, providing the instant lift and definition associated with Dermal Filler injections. CaHa microspheres stimulate collagen synthesis, increasing the skin’s strength and integrity over time. Clinical studies have reported significant improvements in skin health and signs of ageing in over 90% of participants, making HArmonyCA ™ one of the most formidable injectables on the market.
BELOTERO ® Revive
BELOTERO ® Dermal Fillers are popular across the UK and US, however, the latest product added to the range was only launched in selected countries across Europe and South America back in 2021. BELOTERO ® Revive adds glycerol to a hyaluronic acid base to effectively treat hyperpigmentation and sun damage. Like many other injectables, Revive also improves skin hydration and firmness but it’s the first of its kind to reduce the appearance of early-onset photodamage. A small number of localised injections can be used to target areas of concern, with results lasting up to 9 months. BELOTERO ® Revive can be safely used alongside other injectables to enhance skin health and anti-ageing results.
